Who We Are
It all began in 1957, when Mr. Abdallah Juma, together with his brothers, bought the farm. At that time, it was planted mainly with coconut trees, an orchard of orange and lime trees, and later included small-scale livestock, particularly chickens. From the very beginning, the farm was nurtured with the intention of being organic. Over the years, the farm’s diverse natural environment and abundance of native trees inspired the idea of turning it into an Agro-Eco-Tourism destination. In November 2015, Msonge took a bold step by establishing the Practical Permaculture Training Institute, marking the start of its expansion not only at the main farm but also at its extension in the Kidichi area. After several decades of organic-by-default farming, Msonge officially adopted organic principles in 2000, and by 2015 transformed into a commercial permaculture farm—a thriving, diverse, and vibrant ecological system. Guided by tradition, vision, and a deep respect for nature, Msonge continues to grow as a place where people can learn, experience, and reconnect with sustainable living.
Mission
Growing food for our own household use, sale to our local community through Pakacha Delivery Baskets, delivery to tourist hotels, and allowing room for events such as our weekly farm-to- table to spread the success of organic farming.
Vision
A farm that will develop into a self-sustaining ecosystem, requiring little to no input and management.
Our Philosophy
Our philosophies imbue the innate truth and words of the Msonge Farm management team. We are custodians and respect inheritance that was left to us. Msonge organic believes that sustainability begins at home, respect all life to exhibit instinctual behaviour and manage rather than control.
Our core belief
We believe that welfare profit is of greater value than economic profit, we accept and design for climate uncertainty, we consider the expansion of ecological principles to our neighboring farms, we accept limitations and accomplishments. At Msonge we respect others and celebrate seasonality, celebrating the natural state.
